This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem. <--- This is the error that pops up. I installed the C++ from Trevor's "It LackeyCCG doesn't launch for you..."

I have lackey unziped and placed in 'my documents'. Windows XP.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Please tell me exactly what kind of XP you have. Did the old lackey from 10-14-09 work for you? Try updating you drivers. Talk to me on AIM and we can troubleshoot. I'm Lykos4 on AIM.

Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002
Service Pack 3

Computer:
intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU

Specs,
I had the 11-24-10 Version up and running, was playing on the servers and all was hunky dory. Then I was hit by some virus, had to reformat. HD is clean all drivers up to date, along with windows registrations and virus software etc. I just found it odd that it went from working fine. To needing to be "Installed" when its never said that before. I'm also working out an odd graphic error with Starcraft 2.

I also have a friend who I was playing Magic with. He's going to send me a copy of his file and I'll cross examine to see if I'm missing any files.

Maybe I just need to convince the wife I need a new computer for Christmas.

I'm having the same problem and I'm using the same version and service pack.

Edit: Come to think of it, I had to scrub my hard drive a couple of months ago so it could be connected.

I had the same issue myself early in testing this new version of Lackey when I tried it on a "clean" computer. Odds are you (or another application) had installed the c++ pack from microsoft. Try installing that and see if it solves the issue for you.

Kaifu

I have installed that already Alastair. Sadly it didn't fix the problem. I copied my wife's file from her PC and the only difference was Microsoft Security asked for permission to run the program this time, but I still ended up with the error "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." again.  So its not lackey. It has to be a setting somewhere.

I have a number of DLLs I can give you and you can see which one will make it run for you. Then, when it is running, you can remove them one by one and see which you need.

ghostdragon

If you could send me those DLL's (or post them here) I'd be grateful.

That "This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem." message is really stupid.

I don't recall. Does anyone know the name of a utility that would tell you exactly which DLL it was missing? Is it "Event Viewer"? Will that let you see what the problem is?

Try installing this again and relaunching your computer: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=9B2DA534-3E03-4391-8A4D-074B9F2BC1BF&displaylang=en

If that doesn't work, check out these: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en/vcgeneral/thread/36971526-95f3-4a9f-a601-1843c86332c1

Maybe try doing a google search to see if anything helps you figure it out. Let me know if you have any success finding out what is missing so I can make sure it is included.

Try putting these in your lackey folder:

http://lackeyccg.com/windows/Microsoft.VC80.CRT/

Unzip them. You may need to keep them in a subfolder of lackey called "Microsoft.VC80.CRT" but I'm not sure. Let me know if any of those work.

Kaifu

All files downloaded, unzipped, extracted to the lackey folder. Tried without using a sub folder first, same error. Placed in the folder with "Microsoft.VC80.CRT" without quotation marks, still same error. /sigh I have to have a messed up setting or lack of dependency file somewhere.

Wish I would have taken C++ instead of hardware concepts last semester.

Here is our problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/948619

You may need this, but I don't think you should:
http://lackeyccg.com/windows/vcredist_x86.exe.zip or possibly http://lackeyccg.com/windows/vcredist_x86.exeALT.zip. I have 2 versions on my computer.

First try the solution where you put
MSVC DLLs
MSVCRx0
MFCx0
ATLx0
in you lackey folder, and  if that doesn't work, in your WinSxS folder. Let me know if you have any luck.

ghostdragon

I downloaded the first option and Lackey seems to be working. Thank you for figuring out what was wrong.

A lot of things were mentioned this this thread. Which one actually worked for you?
