Exactly the same thing happening here too ... Most new versions have run fine for maybe a day or two and then I get the "Shucks, for Realz deal?..."

Trevor and I are going to attempt to move the hosting from his network to mine sometime tomorrow (Saturday at the latest) in an effort to rule his network out as the source of the disconnects. Also there should be a new version by that point as well with some minor updates.

I just posted a new version of lackey. I fixed some bugs.

Things added are the ability to add multiple packs at a time and color coding in the server tab.

In the player list, gray players are people you have on ignore, black is for people who have a different plugin, and green are for people who have the same plugin as you.

For the game list, gray is for games that aren't for your plugin. Black is for games for you plugin that are full. Green is for games for you plugin for which there is an empty seat. You can join green games.

First of all, thank you for the new innovations which are a good idea.

However, I and all others currently connected are unable to actually host a game by either main menu or the regular method. It does not respond at all and no message, except that I did get the "you might be disconnected message" about 5 seconds after attempting to host. This message has occured with the version three times since the download yesterday.

Edited to add that a message also (does indeed) pop up saying that "your version of lackey is not updated" when in fact ones is.

The Add Packs option isn't working (the Qty: section comes up dark gray with a x in the box and when I try to select one pack it just returns to the Card Pool section with nothing showing at all).

I've tried the Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Star Trek 1st Edition, Star Wars TCG & Lord of the Rings CCG's as of yet.

12/10 ver: I get the debug msg "you might be disconnected message" every X sec ( I didn't count the sec)
I have to to hit the load all images to see the cards in deck editor and I have to to this for every section of the "binder" part of the editor. Only have tried this with the magic (large) plugin.

I do not know if this will help you get a bead on something but I thought I should mention that most of the time when I attempt to close the Lackey app I get the "Lackey is not responding" message even though Lackey has been working (to various degrees). This suggests that something is freezing but not everything...

There are many ways of closing lackey. Which way makes things freeze for you? Can you repeat this reliably?

I have recently downloaded both Wine and Lackey on my Fedora 13 computer. Wine is working fine for me, but I can't seem to get online at all. Everything else works normally, I am just unable to connect to the server

I just decided to start using Lackey again today, downloaded Lackey on my new computer, and lots of strange stuff happened. Lackey doesn't seem to be able to save my preferences, if I close it and open it again, it doesn't save my name, info, color, etc.  It says "can't save prefs" I can't update my list of plugins, it has an error: "Error: timed out while attempting to refresh the list of plugins", I can't download any plugins either, "Error: timed out while updating plugin"

...

Can anyone help?

Alastair

Sounds like something on your system is preventing lackey from saving anything to disk.

Ya, this doesn't sound like a lackey bug. Take a look at where lackey is saved to, and make sure you can write to that location ok. Also, make sure you don't have lackey files, like Preferences.txt, open with another program.

I figured out the problem! I had to open up the properties menu of LackeyCCG.exe, and check the box that says "Run this program as an administrator". This apparently solved the problem.

That "solved" the problem because running it as administrator overrides normal checks, such as write permission. You can also check to make sure the txt files/etc... are not marked as read-only.
