Tokens for magic

I know people want tokens for magic well  i am working on them and i hope that they will get added to the main magic plugin but until then here is the 3 files you will need. http://nikulas.webs.com/Magic/CardImageURLs1.txt http://nikulas.webs.com/Magic/setlist.txt http://nikulas.webs.com/Magic/Tokens.txt note i will update them until i am done adding all the tokens.

MOD EDIT: I don't suggest you actually use these modifications because they can make your plugin incompatible with others.

i know that but using the spawn card is painful tho and if there was an easy way to use token then people would not be complaining about the spawn cards. like have it so that the spawn card spawns then chose witch token it was and have the ability to duplicate it then it would be better, but it's up to you Trevor.

I think trevor is trying to say its a compatibillity issue, also Bort is our Magic Plugin guy, its kind of bad form to try and add something when someone else has this plugin covered.. Tokens will come to the Magic plugin.. might be better after Trevor gets the new Version finalized.

Adding a bunch of pseudo cards to your sideboard so you can use them in game is not a good way of doing tokens. It's more cumbersome than just spawning a blank card. In most cases, you don't even need to label spawned cards because it's obvious what they are. In most real life games, people use stuff like paper clips or dice or salt shakers to stand in for tokens, and those items work just fine. Spawned cards work just as well as those real world things.

I will add tokens as something a plugin can define, and it will work elegantly.

But really, having multiple versions of a plugin is a bad idea. No offense, but the hacked modifications are almost always done in a subpar way. For example, the token modification you had has no difference for medium and high cards, and even worse, the card images you link to are about 480x460 pixels wide, which look absurd when the cards are actually downloaded and displayed alongside the other card images.

I know spawned (blank) cards don't look as pretty as actual token pictures, but they provide all the needed utility with a minimum of cumbersome searching around for the exact right kind of token.

Lots of plugins want to define counters, and that ability will be coming, and it will work well.

well it's pointless for me to have medium unless you want the tokens from unglued and all the duel deck cause that's all that gatherer has that i could find but i will keep looking.

If they exist for high, they exist for medium. It's a very simple matter to batch resize them via photoshop or something else. If you don't know how, I'm sure someone else does.

if there need to be medium then there will be come hell or high water cause gatherer only has 12-19 different tokens and i am willing to do all the work that there needs to be and soon i will have an ftp web page where i can store all them.

i know thats what i am using but thats the only place with all the tokens.

  Edit: all the high res version are done now i just need to work on the low res for when i get an ftp server.

I'd suggest once you get em finished that you contact Bort and offer them to him for inclusion in the "official" magic plugins.
