Any MECCG players around willing to teach a newcomer? I am so interested in this game. I love the books, the cards' design and artwork, and the concept seems different from anything I've played so far.  :)

You should definitely check out the lotr lcd plugin.

Its kinda ridiculously involved (especially if you ever had the misfortune of reading the rules from the "source," the old 2 1/2" rulebook from the starter decks).

Here's a simplified rules that someone typed out, definitely enough to play:

I dunno that I have the time to be the person to teach you, nor have I ever played the game with anyone that I wasn't teaching the game, and I feel like I don't really know the rules very well (when building decks, I'd just avoid using any cards I didn't really understand).

Sooo hopefully a guru comes along, otherwise I might try to re-learn it with the intent to steal the rules (they ain't using 'em!)

I just played last week at Gencon, so I might be down to do this soon! I just have to find a link to the plugin since the version I have doesn't have the plugin finder...

You should be able to download the plugin using the update link in this post: http://www.lackeyccg.com/forum/index.php?topic=104.0
I built the plugin a few years ago, but haven't looked at it much since. So I don't know if it is still fully functional with the latest version of Lackey. If not let me know, and I will see what I can do.

If you just start out learning to play, there are a bunch of pre-constructed decks that come with the plugin, that are nicely balanced. They are located in the folder 'decks' within the plugin directory. You can also download them here: http://www.chrisvos.com/meuk/lackey/meccg/decks/
I'd advice trying to play one-on-one with both players loading one of the Wizards pre-constructed decks: Challenge Deck A through E. Deck F through J are Ringwraith (minion) decks, which are somewhat harder to play and use additional rules.

The rules of the game are included in the plugin in the folder 'rules' or downloadable here: http://www.chrisvos.com/meuk/lackey/meccg/rules/ In this folder you will also find pointers on how to correctly play the different pre-constructed Challenge Decks.

Here is some more information on the plugin and the game: http://www.chrisvos.com/meuk/lackey/meccg/info/

It's a great game, and once you get the hang of it it's not all that complicated to play.

I don't have much time to play myself, but if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

Regards,
Chris
