If you're looking for a way to play poker online for real money, check out http://www.pokerlistings.com.
The poker site lists are at http://www.pokerlistings.com/best-real-money-poker-sites.

Lackey will let you play any CCG you want, but I don't intend to ever let people play poker for real money through it. So if that's what you're interested in, you can check out http://www.pokerlistings.com.

For those people who want to make or update a plugin, but don't have excel or any other spreadsheet program, I just tested and google has a free web-based spreadsheet program that can edit lackey card data files fine.
http://spreadsheets.google.com

One note about using it, you need to save the file as text once you are done updating it. It will download with a suffix called ".tsv". You will need to manually rename the file to ".txt". I'm not exactly sure why they don't have .txt as the suffix to begin with because it appears to be regular tab delimitted text, which is what Lackey uses.

It has come to my attention that some people have begun distributing LackeyCCG as their own work. They downloaded Lackey from my site, renamed the .exe and changed the icon, and are pretending that they are the creators of LackeyCCG. Their hack is referred to as YDA (Yugioh Duel Arena) and its creators are based in Brazil. What follows is a letter to everyone who has been using YDA.

QuoteA letter to the people who use YDA (Yugioh Duel Arena):
What you know as YDA is actually none other than LackeyCCG, a program I wrote to play any Collectible Card Game. My website is www.lackeyccg.com. What someone has done is downloaded my program from my website, renamed the application .exe, and gave it a different icon. They then tried to distribute it as their own work. I have put a lot of time and effort into creating LackeyCCG, which I make available to everyone for free from my website, http://www.lackeyccg.com.

A plugin is a compartmentalized set of files that Lackey uses to play any specific CCG. There are many collectible card games available for people to play with Lackey, not just Yugioh. I don't insist on controlling any of the plugins used by Lackey. In fact, most of the game plugins are created by people other than myself. I don't know the intent of the person or persons who repackaged Lackey and renamed it YDA, but if they did it because they wanted a more updated version of the Yugioh plugin, one that includes more cards and has improved functionality, then they can still get that while using Lackey in the intended way. If they just did it to steal the credit, then that is a really dirtbag thing to do, especially because I spent so much time and effort making it and I am not even charging any money for it.

If you want to help update the yugioh plugin to include all missing cards, or want to improve it, talk in the lackeyccg.com forum for plugins. I strongly advise you to completely stop using the impostor YDA. Whoever packaged it did a poor job doing so, and made several mistakes.

If you have any questions, you can contact me at trevor@lackeyccg.com, or post in my forum at lackeyccg.com

I think many people seem to roll a die to determine who goes first. I prefer flipping a coin. Flipping a coin is better for 2 reasons. First, it doesn't require any action from the other player. Second, you can't get ties requiring rerolling as can sometimes happen with rolling a die

To use the flip method of deciding who goes first, first say either "heads" or "tails" in the log. Then type "/flip", which you can also set to a saved chat message button.

I'm not sure who if anyone is updating the yugioh plugin, but someone sent me something of an update that has about 4119 cards in it, but it needs a little work. If anyone wants to update and/or maintain the yugioh plugin, let me know. I'm far too busy coding to do it myself, plus I don't know much about the game.

General Discussion Forum / Shuffle only once!
April 27, 2010, 10:15:27 AM
It is annoying how frequently people spam shuffling their decks.

1 shuffle is no better or worse than a billion shuffles!

One shuffle makes the cards in the deck perfectly random. Shuffling more than once does nothing but spam the log with superfluous messages.

Also, remember that when you load a deck, it shuffles the deck automatically so you don't need to shuffle a deck explicitly unless a card tells you to, or you mulligan, or something like that.

Some people have asserted (completely without evidence) that there is a bug in Lackey's shuffling algorithm. There is no reason to believe this is true other than anecdotal reports. There is good reason to believe the shuffling algorithm works perfectly because it has been thoroughly tested via statistical means.

I suspect that perceived errors in the shuffling are caused by:
A. Confirmation bias
B. People being accustomed to the same "randomness" with real cards, but real cards tend not to be truly randomized. Shuffling real cards, people often "de-clump" cards.
C. People not realizing that "clumping" of kinds of cards should occur a decent percent of the time with truly random shuffles.
