Ok.. I think I have found a solution to this problem....

I am now hosting on GITHUB.... . I think this will work fine.. but there is a bandwidth limit.. so if you have errors.. just wait and try again in a few hours or the next day or something.

I do not think it will ever be an issue as there are so few people who will use this plugin.

The new UPDATE url is :

I found github super confusing as it is a complex site designed for subversion control and group access of programming projects... so let me know if there are any issues!

have fun and ROLL HIGH

I'm having some real strange problems here... basically I have a working update.txt file.. but as soon as I change anything it no longer works for some reason as reads as invalid.. but it looks fine to me?

I have been trying to move my project to github for hosting... the not working update list is this one..

the working on is this

(this drop box link will not go into lackey btw... it is just to show you the file.

Basically they "look" identical... but the links to the phase images have been corrected and the date at the top has been changed.

Anyone have any ideas why this is not working? It is really frustrating!

(Changed both links to dropbox so I can continue testing on github)

I think you should try GitHub.

I could try GitHub.. but unless it has predictable file names... then it will not work.

So they way LackeyCCG works is that :
  • You place ALL the card images in a single directory, or a few.. but works easiest if all in one dir.
  • You then give lackey the HTTP ofthat directory. (")
  • In your CardDataFile you have two important values.
    • Name
    • Extension
  • So when Lackey asks for "MyCard" it simply appends "MyCard.JPG" to the URL you set.. [li]Then it uses the Extension to sort the directory structure of the game. So if you have "MyCard" in Expantion2, then in the card download it will be placed in a directory called "Extention2"

So the problem isn't hosting the files, it is having the url work like this...

5GBFRee worked great... but they deleted my account after a few weeks as they say it violates the user agreement.. even though the two plus I posted are from well out of print games.

I think the only alternative is to use direct links to my dropbox.... but I am not 100% sure how... All my plugins use the cardURL directory thing... like below..

So this would simply work for all my card images which were just placed in that dir which is accessible by HTTP...

Before this feature was added there was a way to add individual card image urls .... .dose anyone know how to do this?

Finally found what I think could be a replacement host for DropBox...

I have uploaded the lackeyCCG Plugin to this server as well as incorporated some slight changes.

ADDED : Cycle 04
[c]  [/c] Voice of Isengard (Delux)
[c]  [/c] The Ring Maker Cycle

CHANGED : New Keybindings
CHANGED : Removed the Truncated Button Names

Apart from that it is pretty much the same as it ever was.

[q]KeyBoard Functions

You can set your own keyboard functions to anything you wish, by clicking PREFERENCES button and then clicking KEYBINDINGS. These are just what I use. Feel free to change ANY button but the F11!! and the F12.. if you change these you will break some of the scripting functions. Remember you can always update form the url at any time to reset everything to defaults.

Keybindings in Lackey are pervasive across the application, so if you use "t" for take control, then every time you type "t" in the chat window it will trigger the hotkey. So I am using CTRL+T and CTRL+SHIFT+T to turn On and Off tokens. There is a bug in LackeyCCG at the moment that makes windows systems beep if you use ALT+t.... so for now it is SHIFT+T.. but will go back to ALT once the bug is fixed. (It may not be the app has not been updated since 2009)

CRT+LEFT CLICK = Flip a Card
HOLD SHIFT + MOUSE OVER (Peak at the other side of the card without flipping it)

F1 = Refresh ALL
F2 = Draw Card

] = Next Phase (auto save each advanced phase)
[ = Last Phase
F4 = Advance Turn

F2 = Next Turn
F3 = Draw 1 Card to Hand

F4 = Draw Quest Card

F5 = Draw Encounter Card
F6 = Draw Shadow Card
F7 = Draw 2nd Encounter Card
F8 = Draw 2nd Shadow Card

F12 = Empty Hand - This moves the top card of your hand to the top of your draw deck. (do not change this keybinding!!)

CRTL+T = Take Control of Card

CTRL+R / CRT+SHIFT+R = Resource Token (Add / Remove)
CTRL+W / CRT+SHIFT+W = Wound Token (Add / Remove)
CTRL+P / CRT+SHIFT+P = Progress Token (Add / Remove)

CTRL+A / CRT+SHIFT+A = Orange Generic Token (Add / Remove)
CTRL+S / CRT+SHIFT+S = Red Generic Token (Add / Remove)
CTRL+D / CRT+SHIFT+D = Purple Generic Token (Add / Remove)

CTRL+Z / CRT+SHIFT+Z = Blue Generic Token (Add / Remove)
CTRL+X / CRT+SHIFT+X = Yellow Generic Token (Add / Remove)
CTRL+C / CRT+SHIFT+C = Green Generic Token (Add / Remove)

CTRL+ALT+1 = Toggle Draw Mode ON / OFF
CTRL+ALT+2 = Clear Drawn Markings

F10 = Roll 6 sided Dice
F9 = Flip Coin

F1 = Refresh (+Threat, Untap all and Draw 1 Card)
- / + =  Threat  Add / Remove
Ctrl + 1,3,5 = Peak  1, 3, 5 (Peak at the top 1, 3 or 5 cards of your own draw deck)
Ctrl+SHIFT+1,3,5 = Scry 1, 3, 5 (Scry the top 1, 3 or 5 cards form the top of the 1st encounter deck)

How to install?

Install LackeyCCG -
Open the applicatio and click the button at the top (send from teh far right) called "PLUGIN"
Copy this link to your clipboard -
Press the button in Lackey "Paste AutoUpdate URL".
Then click "Install Update"

That is it! All done.

If the plugin says "errors in downloading"... just click the install button again. Sometimes Lackey fails to downlaod things for some reason. The links should all work.. so click it again and you should be good.

Once you installed the plugin.. on that same screen click "Browse installed Plugins to Load One"
Select - LoTRLCG
Click - Choose

have fun!![/q]

I'm going to use this as a test... if it works out then I'll move my other plugins there...

I do not really play this game much anymore. This plugin will probably not get another update.. unless I get help from another. The truth is that I have moved most of my play into TableTop Simulator. There is also OCTGN.

The big plus of LackeyCCG over OCTGN was that it was that it also had iOS support.

If you wish to help

If you wish to help with this plugin then PM me on this forum and speak up.. all I really need is someone to enter the data into the cardtext file, as I hate doing that. I can then produce all the cards needs and get the plugin updated on the server.

Having a strange problem, were if I hold odwn shift.. all the cards on the table flip up so I can see them. In a few of my games cards go on the table face down.. but this never used to work this way right?

Basically if you hold shift, they all flip up?

Any idea how to stop that?

So DropBox is fucked... but I think I have found a free solution...

The problem was unless you added every single file url into the card files we needed a webhost that acts like a traditional public_html folder... as in all files are xxx.yyy/filename.ext ... that way you only need 1 entery in your plugin dir with the directory, and then the app gets all the files by appending the file name onto the url (xxx.yyy/file1.jpg | xxx.yyy/file2.jpg) etc etc..

Anyway... looks like I may have found a free webhost that will fit out needs.. it is called.. 5GBFREE ... it has already been around for about 5 years so it is realitivly stable... but more importanly it has 5GB of free space as well as full FTP access for easy uploading and file management. There is also other feeares like pHp and mysql if you want to run forums or blogs or w/e.

Like all free hosts it has a smallish bandwidth limitation, so you may get errors when you hit that.. but lets face it the LackeyCCG community isn't that huge!! hehe..

Anyway.. I'm going to try and move 1 of my plugins to this service to test it out.. I'll let you know how it goes...

have fun and ROLL HIGH

As the app is no longer being developed I think this is the death nail : (

We need a :unzip: function or something.. so we can host a single file containing the entire plugin. Or linking to a series of files.

It is said that Trevor hasn't dropped us a line in a long time, would have been nice to at least have him say goodbye or maybe share the code with others so we could continue.

Also I took a quick peek at GoogleDrive and you can get the direct download link for a file by replacing "/file/d/" with "/uc?export=download&id=", and removing "/view?usp=sharing" from the end.

PC LackeyCCG can download card image files just fine using it, I tried it.

Yeah, like I said in the OP, you can do this.. problem is that the directory function (as far as I know) dose not work.. so you need to put EVERY SINGLE card in the update URL and do that fix you are talking about for literally 1000s of files. In my case with all those plugins we are talkins over 15,000 files.

CoC, LoTR-LCG, DUNE, DEATH ANGEL, ANR, SPYCRAFT, X-FILES and MIDDLE EARTH lackeyccg plugins will all stop working sometime in march as DropBox is discontinuing the "public folder service".
I do not know what to do about this. I can not afford a online file server. There is the option of using "direct links" to OneDrive, GoogleDrive and the "new" Dropbox.. but sharing each file individually and getting the hack for the direct link for 1000s of files will be a LOT of work.
Anyone Lackey Devs.. "how are you hosting your files?"
I am thinking of hosting the plugins as RAR files you just download and unarchive into the correct folder. (no idea how the file system works on iPad). Do you guys think that would be ok>

I'm getting a lot of people telling me that LackeyCCG no longer works on the latest MacOS... as in the app itself will not run. I use Windows so I can not confirm or deny. but thought you guys should know.

(Assuming this app is not actually dead nowadays)

There are a number of good applications for "virtual desktops" but only two that I know if which are specifically designed for Card Games and there are a lot of pro and con arguments for both apps.

LackeyCCG and OCTGN are the two big card game apps that I know of.

OCTGN has a cleaner more "modern" interface and a number of online systems that really help it. It is most hampered by the fact that it is PC only, but I hear he is working on a Mac port. LackeyCCG on the other hand is more clunky, though imo once you get into it that is not a problem, but it is a barrier to some younger players BUT lackey plays on Mac, PC, Linux and iPad and the server system means you can play with people using any platform. Pretty cool. It also has things like save sates and the like, which OCTGN dose not have. OCTGN also tries to get you to pay a subscription fee. It is not compulsory but unlocks a ton of cool features the best of witch is a card image manager to "drop in images" into the deck builder. Also OCTGN has some advanced scripting features so many of the large plugins "understand" they game rules to a extent. Personally I dislike this kind of thing and like the game to function like a card game in real life. It also has a custom card template system so plugin guys can add cards with out scans and users can still play.

There is also TableTopSimulator on steam. Vassal and Battlegrounds. These are more focused on boardgames though.

As far as I know there is not a lot of other options.

Yeah I figured as much.

I think Trev should run a kickstarter and try and raise some money and make LackeyCCG - 2nd Edition or something : )

Last update was in 2014 or something.... just wondering if there is any movement on this project.. or if real life has taken Trevor away?

I know it wouldn't help the time problem, but Trev should run a kickstarter or a go-fundme or something to get a little help on this.
