Plugins & Plugin Creation Forum / Re: Deck Editor Question

Lackey is not a magical program that does everything for you. It does not restrict cards in your deck even in games where that rule applies. It also does not automatically adjust health based on the card played, discard cards for you, or a host of other things.

I think one way to do it is to have a separate deck called your tokens deck, since lackey does support multiple decks. Anyone using "tokens" could just go to that deck and get what they need.

I personally disagree with this use of the word token though. If it is meant to be put in your hand, then a card would be made to represent it, and is thus not a token. But that's just my two cents.

I don't know how this might work for the bigger plugins, but I have the Harry Potter plugin attached to a free account. It took a little adjusting to figure out how to have files that are not actually on the webpage, but it works.

Note that the server is still online and is hardly ever offline any more. That's why before your post the last comment in this thread was in 2013

I remember a few years ago there was a lot more discussion in the forums, but back then the program was still in development and updates (along with new bugs) were coming every few months. Also there were a lot of people making plugins for their favorite games and trying to figure it out. There are now so many games that have had a plugin made at some point, that its pretty easy to look at those as examples of how to do your own, along with following the better instructions on the website.  Now there is a lot less traffic on the forum because there are no program updates (lately) and its pretty easy to make a plugin.

I would suggest you familiarize yourself a little bit with how the program works in play before you build a plugin. I maintain the Harry Potter TCG plugin, and have it set up so that your starting character is in a separate deck (of one card) at the start of the game.  You can set up as many decks as you want, and as many places as you want to keep piles of cards (hand, discard, exiled, etc), but it is easier to use this program with a smaller number of places to draw from. Are you making your own game, or is there some Quidditch game I am not familiar with out there?

You are not clear what you are looking for someone to do.

I don't know that bug. :o

If you upload your plugin (or at least the important, bug-possible parts) I could take a look and see what I can find.  In most cases it's something simple that you overlooked or didn't know.
I know a plugin will do this if there is no cardback.jpg in the file

It is best to wait for the plugin's maintainer to add the cards from the new set so that everyone will be able to have the same cards. If you just add the cards yourself, no one else will be able to see the card images and you could cause other problems with the program. If you notice a new set has been out a while, but the plugin has not been updated, you can contact the maintainer through these forums.

On the other hand if you were wanting to make a new set of cards all on your own to play with just a small group of friends, you could just copy the plugin, rename it, and change it to accommodate your home-made cards, then share the "new" plugin with your friends.

Plugins & Plugin Creation Forum / Re: following tutorial, plugin won't load
« on: September 27, 2014, 01:12:10 PM »
This may have changed since I was playing around with making brand new plugins, but you needed more than just the pluginfo file to get lackey to load a plugin. If I remember right you need a cardback.jpg and a carddata file even if only one card is listed.

Edit: Reading the tutorial this seems to have changed, but I can not get a plugin to load with just the plugininfo file as listed, though I could get one to load with just the plugininfo and a cardback

Plugins & Plugin Creation Forum / General Function or canned message
« on: August 17, 2014, 01:39:03 PM »
I'm working with someone to improve their plugin and was stumped by the best way to approach a situation.
In this game, on a players turn they draw three cards instead of just one. I could include a canned message to /draw3 but I want a button in front of everyone so I don't have to teach players how to access the canned messages. I know a generalfunction can be defined to have a button to draw a card, but can I make a button for drawing three?

There seems to be something wrong with locking the windows resizing bars. Every time I close Lackey or switch to a different plugin, the right bar goes all the way to the edge, whether I have the box checked or not.

The name of the file must be carddata.txt with no 7 in the name. Also it must me tab delineated like the original.

I think I may have figured out the version currently posted on the tutorial page. could someone check this out to see if it is right?
