Title: I just posted a new version of Lackey, build date 05-27-11. Post bugs here.
Post by: Trevor on May 27, 2011, 10:22:10 AM
I just posted a new version with several bug fixes, and some new features. I have begun adding macros and scripting. I will continue to augment these new abilities. In addition to adding more commands, I have made a webpage that lists them all and explains how to use them.

http://lackeyccg.com/tutoriallogcommands.html

Post bugs you find here. Also, I welcome feedback as I improve the commands & macros functionality.

Mac users who downloaded before 2:15 PM EST today might want to redownload. I since fixed a few bugs and added text to speech in the mac version.

Great work as always,

minor thing though /speechon and /speechoff do try to synchronize the playmat for all players (at least between 2 Mac computers using 05-27-11).

If I use /spawn CARDNAME and move then the spawned card to the discard, the card will show up in my discard pile (shouldn't it be removed like the blank ones?).
Could we have a macro to download a card from a deckzone to  the table/hand (similar to spawn which can dl a card from your library of all cards).

Nava

P.S. ISSTACKEDCARDSFLAT works like a charm...

I will be adding commands to let you do pretty much everything, including that.

I can't seem to be able to right click on the +,-,0,= buttons for me or other players when i'm seated down an playing.
Not sure if it's a bug or something from my side.

What is going on with this ridiculous guy reading the chat???  How do I get the sound back to when lackey was normal?  This is crazy...

No one on the server can give me a straight answer.  When I play solo the sound seems normal.  When someone joins my game...I got a computer reading the whole chat...When I try to turn off certain sounds, It's either turning off too much sound, or not enough....

You are supposed to be able to turn that off with /speechoff, but the ability to turn it off is currently bugged in the posted version. It will be fixed when I post the next version. Also I will add a GUI for that.

Ya, I noticed that shortly after I posted it, but I fixed it since. I haven't posted the fix because it isn't a major thing. There are many ways to change a stat.

btw, you can do in the log "/-5" to subtract 5, or "/+3" to add 3, or "/=15" to set your stat to 15.

Thanks for getting back to me.  Was there any reason that you even put that option there?  I can't imagine anyone ever using that...I love lackey...a lot...but that is just brutal lol :)

I like it a lot. It's a player preference thing, like some people like playing with a flat table, and some people like the 3D.
Text-to-speech makes spectating games like watching TV in my opinion. It speaks what they say. Do you have any suggestions to improve it, aside from the ability to turn it off?

Right now it is set to use your computer's default voice. Change that in your Mac System Preferences if you want a different voice.

I just posted a fix for macs. Download the zip, and take the .app from the zip, replacing your old one. You can now disable text-to-speech and it will remember your preference.

Not to sound stupid but is there a new read-me or anything listing the changes?  a lot of stuff has been modified recently and I've been busy with work so hard to keep up :)

I downloaded the new update.  I didn't see a button to turn it off, but the /speechoff worked just fine.  I could have just missed it though.

Few things I noticed, not sure if I'm just being stupid though...My draw 6 and Draw 7 buttons have been removed.  I see other people doing it but they are using a PC, so I'm not sure if there's something that I'm missing or if its a mac issue.  I also noticed that even if the "Opponent's cards face you?" box is unchecked, the cards face me.

I'll think about suggestions for the speech feature.

Melkor just type /draw 7 /draw 6   and you should be able to do the function.  I have never pressed the button to draw 6 or 7.

Preferences -> chat & macros

put your /draw6 there :p

Also, I found a bug. I created a game with 3 seats. When I vacated the seat and clicked the hand tab of one of the players, I could see their cards D:

little premise: i still have to download this last update (i still have 12/12/10).

now: i've read somewhere in this (or previous updates) topic that new macro function has been added; the question is: is is possible to let a card do something automatically when played depending on its effect: i.e. doomtrooper -> positive karma: add automatically 10 dp to the dp pool instead of clicking 10 times the + button, or writing manually 10 to the white line? other example: when a warrior or a battle card is introduced on the table, automatically decrease your dp pool total?

thank you, just asking my 2 cents :)

Not those things specifically yet. I will continue to augment the scripting.

This may be just a bug related to running under WINE, but the global stats are not updating the display for your opponent, when you change them. The values are still consistent, but the display does not update until you yourself change the stat.

I'm beginning to believe that these are WINE bugs, but I can't test till I get home to my Windows machine.  In any case, the defaultchat buttons are not "clearing" after a plugin change.  the number of buttons stays the same, and the newer defaultchat buttons just replace them starting from button 1.  Any excess buttons from previous plugins remain.

IE: load up VTES and there are 20 buttons.  Switch to MTG and there are are still 20 buttons, the first 13 are the MTG buttons, and the last 7 are still the VTES.  Switch to my Netrunner plugin with 6 buttons.  First 6 are Netrunner, 7-13 are MTG, and 14-20 are VTES.

I don't think it's a WINE thing. I think I fixed it in the version I have yet to post.

I've noticed this as well.  If I'm player 1, it seems to work based on the check box, but if I'm player 2, the cards always face me.

i'd like to report a problem about card timing synchro: on my log i play first a card then the opponent another one, in his log it appears the opposite, first his card then mine. is it only a connection problem or also a client one? we both have this last version

p.s. is is auspicable get a more efficient card vector shuffle? too much often, in the maximum of 5 cards in a 60 cards deck, i got 3 adjacent copies of the same cards..

Here's a bug I noticed, not sure if it's been posted before.

When you go to preferences--> gameplay and re-map the default F-key functions (windows), it doesn't really save your choices.  as soon as you leave the preferences window they're reverted to the default.  any ideas?

Apparently no one can see anything I type into the chat box during a game. I've tried changing my color, but it doesn't help. It's as if I don't exist. I can chat just fine in the server but not in-game.

(I'm on windows)

trying to set player 2's life by clicking in the life box and pressing enter sets player 1's life instead, and trying to set player 1's life the same way doesn't seem to do anything.

example (trying to set player 2's life total to 15 by pressing enter (rather than the = button) instead sets player 1's life total, and trying to set player 1's life total to 3 doesn't work):

When hosting a server with the MtG plugin I get the message "<Username> tried to connect but his plugin is not the same as yours."

When using the /reportpluginchecksum we get the exactly same numbers. We tried both doing fresh installs and plugin updating as well as using the exact same install, zipped and sent to each other. I can connect fine with the same plugin between my home desktop and laptop, (lan and wan), but connecting to any of my friend's computers doesn't work. It might be something locale related?

I'm in Finland and my friend is in Germany, respective OS languages and locale settings.

I get this same issue, hosting a game between two English computers without the Server tab. Mine is running OS X and the other has been Windows/Linux. However, if I host the game via the Server tab (with proxy off), it works fine.

In addition, Lackey seems to not obey the system keyboard map in OS X. I usually use Dvorak, but Lackey seems to take the raw keyboard input which is Qwerty (which kinda makes typing a bit difficult for me!).

Sometimes after supposedly disconnecting from spectating a game, I am not fully disconnected and still receive the chat messages from the game I was previously connected to.

http://www.zonatuning.com/customavatars/avatar22905_4.gif
http://www.foromtb.com/customavatars/avatar87003_8.gif

Maybe you need just to disable the "Load avatar from url" button when the url box are empty.

On the deck browser there are two buttons  <>  I assume those are for directory navigation or something, but they don't appear to do anything.
Also, it looks like there is no way to browse or create subdirectories or move to other directories.

am I missing something, is this a bug or a feature that never got implemented?

Oh, I forgot about those. I was originally going to allow folder and subfolder navigation, but I decided that it was just better to make things simple and all in one directory. I removed those buttons.

oh, could I put a request in to change your mind  :)

I can't imagine I'm the only person with hundreds of decks that would be nice to organize.
Even if maintenance of the directories themselves isn't added in, could we at least browse and use directories created outside of lackey?  It's gets even worse when a plugin dumps even more decks into the directory.  I can delete them but any plugin update simply puts them back again.

thanks

Yes please.

I have near 700 decks, which I have sorted alphabetically by format, but it still takes a long time to scroll down to where I want.

Or maybe just a way to search the folder for a deck name.

It's more complicated than it seems to have more than one deck folder. There are lots of things that assume there is only one deck folder, like /getdeck and /senddeck. And then there is things like export to text, which right now is a simple button click. If I allowed for a bunch of deck subdirectories, people would expect to have the ability to export txt decks to any of them, and that necessarily complicates the interface. And if there are multiple deck directories, people will need to search every one of them if they are looking for a deck. And that's just the tip of the ice berg.
In summation, it's a lot more trouble than it's worth. Even if it was all coded up and working right now, I would disable it, because it just isn't worth the tons of complexity that it causes.

That said, I will try to think of ways to help you organize your decks. I just don't think subdirectories is the solution.

how about an "active directory" option.  that way we could organize our directories however we wanted with the caveat that Lackey will only recognize one directory at a time.  We can browse around and switch which one is active whenever we want, but once we've selected everything behaves as it does now.

One option might be a tag system. Basically:
A deck would have a "tags" field, similar to the Deck Name field. This field is free-text, and whatever is typed in there, it is added as the deck's tag (allowing multiple tags divided by commas, such as, to use Magic terms for a bit, "Precon,White,Blue,Multicolor"). The filename remains unchanged, so adding/changing tags would be as simple as loading the deck, altering the tags field, and resaving. The tags could, of course, be saved in the "meta" section of the deck files, so it won't directly interfere with the deck reading method.

When Lackey loads up the deck folder for browsing or loading a deck, it will quickly scan the tag section of the deck file, and provide a list of buttons marked for each tag. Selecting a button would list only decks with that provided tag.

This way, people can sort their deck collection any way they please, without interfering with any filename-specific commands Lackey requests.

...Just a thought.

You could do that right now. Not within lackey, but you could just have other folders adjacent to the decks folder.

I considered something like that, but it seems too clunky to implement to have it be an actual improvement over how things are done now.

For someone to have something like 700 decks I think is not the norm. And I think the "recent decks" method of loading a deck would be used most of the time. For those few who are true deck hoarders, I don't really think it's such a horrible problem, assuming you intelligently named your decks in the first place. If you aren't doing it already, you might want to think of a consistent naming scheme for your decks.

I really don't think it's a big problem having them all in a single place.

I'm not sure if you realized this, but you can scroll a bunch of ways in Lackey, and none should take that long. The standard page up and page down move up and down windows (and the other standard things), but if you really need to scroll fast, just left click on the square and drag. Alternatively, there is a non-standard interface ability where if you right click at a particular place in the scroll bar, it behaves as if you left clicked the square and dragged instantly to that place.

I believe this is a bug....

When using a non-default cardback, via the comma notation in the card data definition files, the Titles of those cards will show up in a draw deck or when face down on the table, even if hidden to everyone, when Text ON is enabled.

The easiest way to reproduce this is to add the following to any existing plugin card data file, for the Imagefile column:

<image name>,cardback

Load that up and toggle Text ON.  When you look at your draw deck, you'll be able to see the card you modified.

Here's a screenshot of the bug in action:

And where it really becomes problematic for me is with the Encounter deck, which has no choice but to use a different cardback.  As you can see here, everything is visible:

Edit: Not sure if it matters, but I'm using the Windows version of Lackey...

Bootylactin, a card's name should appear only when it is unique to that card, thus identifying the card. I will make sure there is an option to select if a card's back is truly unique, or an alternate type where the exact name of the card should be concealed.
