Title: New User: Help
Post by: jdr88 on May 18, 2011, 09:45:43 PM
Hey all..
For starters, I'm confused where to put all the lines I write up. I have finished everything but carddata and images (which I will definitely need help on later) but don't know what to do with plugininfo.txt

I arranged my plugin folder just like the sample war3000 is, now what?

Also, I want to run a test to see if my plug in is working so I made a sample card image but don't know where to put it. Where do I get the URL from if it's on my desktop?

Maybe these questions seem stupid but the Tutorial, while great, leaves a lot open ended for those of with NO experience at all.. thanks!  ;D

If all the files are local, you don't need to have any URL. Just put the images where they belong. Where exactly that is depends on how you configured your plugin. Take a look at where other plugins have their images.

If you want, pack it up in a zip or rar file and throw me a link to download it.  I'll take a look and see if I can figure it out.

Well for starters, plugin names can't include spaces.

changed the name (didn't fix the initial problem) i definitely screwed up the linking to the pictures/sets/image or something. the one card I have doesn't exist inside Lackey

Try that. You also had some typos. Like priarie_dog instead of prairie_dog.

BTW the template design looks very professional.

btw
"Their silhouettes on the horizon comforted to us all" should omit the "to".

okay so awesome it worked..

two questions:

1 what did you fix? typos? was my linking or folder setup wrong?
and
2 what is the DS.store file that's in the folders you sent?

I forget exactly what typos I fixed. I think your hierarchy was fine. Try adding a second card and see if that breaks it.

Regarding DS.store, ignore that. That's an invisible file macs put inside folders and it accidently got zipped and sent to you.

Do you know how to correctly save and load a deck with another plugin? I.e., are you doing it right or is this an issue specific to your plugin?

As always, post you plugin can I can test it.

Regarding resizing, photoshop can batch resize all the images really easily.

Okay, let's say I have all the cards in a pdf and they're butted up against one another? how can I batch crop those? I looked it up online but it didn't really help..

I have CS4
all the cards are in one .pdf

the dimensions are something like 399x454 (totally a guess, I forget)
suggestions?

Save the PDF pages as jpg files.  Open the jpg files and then re-save them in Photoshop as jpg's.  (For some reason if I dont do that step I don't get good results).  Then, you can test the automation to see if it works by opening your new jpg, going to File-->automate-->crop & straighten and see how your results are.  If that works, you can create an action you can use to batch everything.  If this doesn't make sense, PM me and I'll explain it more.  I'm not sure how to export my current photoshop settings, but if you know how let me know.  I'll show you what I have set up - it works quite well.

Replied via email, so check your email.  I think it went there and not the lackey pm.
