Title: How to "Play a card from your collection"?
Post by: Sergoth on March 31, 2010, 10:02:51 PM
Wow TCG specifically has a few cards (summoning circle, Illidan Stormrage, etc...) that allow you to take cards from your COLLECTION and put them into your hand or play. How can you do this if you were to choose a card that was not already loaded into your deck? Is there any way to play a card straight from the deckbuilder to the board? If not, how do we resolve the issue of playing (or not being able to) play these cards?

I might suggest placing them in a sideboard and then moving them to a removed zone. Alternatively you could just make a token card and name it and then expect your opponent to look it up if they had questions.

Placing them in sideboard isnt really an option since you can't really know which cards you might need. Again, legal ones would be any card from your WoW TCG collection (which effectively means the entire thing). As for the token idea, we kinda settled on that. It just seems weird that you can't input a single card after the decks are loaded without resetting the entire deck.

How is this handled in WoW TCG tournaments? Surely they can't expect people to bring their complete collections. Is there a rule that you can only use cards from your sidedeck?

In magic tournaments it's handled by you having the card... If you don't bring it you can't pull it. So you don't bring your ENTIRE collection, because a grizzly bear or one of the dozen cards close to it isn't going to be the one card you need. You'd have a stack of amazing situational cards that you would bring with you and draw out of your bag when you played the tutor.

from the offical ruling unless they've been overturned, in magic tournaments, "collection" is from your side board. It's how all the wish cards where played.

The latest WoWTCG format doesn't use sideboard, so when it says collection it means "any card you own and brought to the tournament". So in Lackey terms, any card.

Well, in magic casual, you are able to pull the card from your collection, meaning anywhere with the wishes.
