If you run lackey and it gives you a message like "Configuration is not correct" or something like that,
try installing this:
Install this: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=9b2da534-3e03-4391-8a4d-074b9f2bc1bf&displaylang=en
Or install this: http://lackeyccg.com/windows/vcredist_x86.exe.zip
Or try right clicking on the LackeyCCG.exe and run it as an administrator.
If any of those fixed your problem, please report back here about it. What was the error you initially got, and which thing fixed it?
hey im trying to launch Lackey ccg and every time i do i get this message: "This application has failed to start because SDL.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
Any ideas? From what I've seen about this program I'm really excited to play it.

Try a different program to unzip that preserves file hierarchy. If the dlls aren't adjacent to the Lackey exe in the lackey folder, you will get an error like that.
My brother is also getting an issue that closes his lackey just as it says welcome, and gives him the error message, "LackeyCCG.exe has stopped working, windows can check online for a solution to the problem." He was also getting an SDl.dll issue, but he's using winzip now. He's extracted the file himself, Ive sent him my working one, but we can't figure out the issue.

This is almost always caused by having some sort of out of date drivers. Update your computer's drivers, especially opengl related ones.
Can't seem to figure out why lackey won't display properly on my laptop running windows 7. Even after i did those three recommendations, the same problem persists. When I run Lackey's last update, DEP (Data Execution Prevention) closes Lackey. Then, when I try to turn off DEP to ignore Lackeyccg.exe it says: "This Program must run with data execution prevention (DEP) enabled. You cannot turn off DEP for this program"
I have reinstalled Lackey several times, and I don't know what's going on. I use Vista Home Premium.

That sounds like some sort of DEP issue where that program is wrongly concluding LackeyCCG is a virus or trojan. I suggest you google DEP. This doesn't seem like a LackeyCCG issue so I can't help with it.

I need more info about your setup. What OS you have? Where is Lackey on your computer (full path)? Talk to me on in an instant message and I can troubleshoot with you.
My Lackey wont start too. Here I use a WinXP Home PC, fully updated (Its my parents pc). I already install MS Visua C++ 2008...
I use the lates Beta of the Lackey program.
I extract the program to "I:\LackeyCCG" so it is a short path and should not encounter any error. I am the administrator an I have full read/write/execute rights here.
Error Message says (its in german, I ll try a quick translate): Cant run Lackey, cauz of an configuration error. Please reinstall.
So I run the update exe, but nothing change. Same error.
If I am back home, I will check it on my Win7 64bit system and on my XP Pro System. In the past, the program runs without errors. But this was for over an year, I think.
Any more information needed?

IM me on Skype or AIM or something and I can help troubleshoot.
Well, first of all, if I should add you in Skype, I need youre Skype name (simply pm me, I didnt found this information in your profile).
Second point, I test the beta of Lackeyccg on a xp pro an an 64bit win7 PC at home, and it starts well (at the moment, I havent realy play a round of magic on it, so I only can say, it will start, but I think it also will run well).
The pont is, the reason, why it wont start on the pc of my parents, must have something to do with the PC of my parents. But what? Ok, it is a home edition, but what else? ;)
I dont now when I next visit my parents.
By the way, your Lackeyccg is a nice peace of software. I realy like it. Thanks for the hard work with it.

Hi,
for some time now I can not start Lackey anymore (tried to look at forums, google, install new dlls).
I am runing Arch linux 64, wine 1.5.2, latest Lackey
this is the error I get:
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xffffffff in 32-bit code (0x7c9130ca).
I can: update, and once it starts, I hear the voice, but then it "breaks"...
I am stuck, please some help!
0x(anything) is a memory cell. Check your ram. But since it's a page fault, you might have a HDD going bad. get into bios and run a hdd test to make sure.
No RAM issues, no HD issues, everything else, work flawlessly.
Computer OS: Windows XP, Media Edition
Issue: When LackeyCCG is started, it closes immediately with absolutely no error message or prompt.

Hi there,
I am having trouble with running lackey using WINE on LinuxMint. Every time I try to run Lackey i get the message "wine program crash - internal errors - invalid parameters received"
I searched around the forum, and I couldn't see any common issues. This is probably an easy fix, but any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

Just played a few games with the new version of Lackey (Mac OS X 10.7.5, Lackey 04-21-13). Here are some of my observations:
- If no card image is available, Lackey used to show a text box with the card infos (without checking the "Text" checkbox); this does not work at the moment
- Lackey does not honor keyboard settings and there is no way to switch keyboard layout from qwerty to e.g. qwertz (I tried different fonts to check for missing glyphs)
- If I activate a filter in the deck builder and switch from "contains" to "is" Lackey stops responding to Mouse/Keyboard input - can close the main window though.
- Can't save games nor will Lackey autosave

When I install Lackey, it installs fine and I can run it just fine. It's just when I install the Shadowrun TCG plugin, things start to mess up. I install the plugin from http://www.lackeyccg.com/shadowrun/updatelist.txt and it installs fine. But when I try to switch to the plugin, Lackey crashes and I when I try to reopen the program, it won't open. Just automatically closes itself down. I have to reinstall the program to get it to open again.
New Lackey August 17, i moved the EXE, like i normally would with an update, Lackey opens, then i close it down to restart, when i do that Lackey Does NOT open back up, at all, i have re installed Lackey 4 times today, and it wont run, Whats up with this..
My System is a Windows 7 64
First, try running lackey from the folder it was unzipped from. You cannot always just move the new exe into your old folder. That is the case with the recently posted lackey. In any case, the auto updated exe in the lackey folder should work in your old folder and update you properly, though I havent specifically confirmed this since I posted the last update.
In any case, I fixed 2 bugs that caused crashes in today's build and I will post a new version tomorrow.
I didn't have a folder prior to installing this version. This was the first install of this program on my system. Hopefully the update tomorrow will fix it.
Let me know if these errors still occur with the 8/18/13 version.
So, I just downloaded the new Lackey version (the 08/18 version) and when I start it, it opens a black window and opens a link in my browser saying I am missing fonts and that I have to download them from the downloads section of lackeyccg.com . The problem is that in that section, there's no download links for fonts. I've tried downloading the Windows version (I'm a OSX user) to replace the Mac version's fonts with the Windows version's fonts, but nothing happened. I was wondering if anyone else got the same error.
Here's the link to which I'm sent when I open Lackey: http://www.lackeyccg.com/missingfontserror.html
Inside the fonts folder, there are 2 files:
Lato-Reg.ttf
SIL Open Font License.txt
Thank you for your time
paco5005, the default font is now Lato-Reg.ttf and it should be in the fonts folder included with both downloads linked at http://lackeyccg.com/downloads.html
Please try downloading a fresh lackey from that address, unzip it, and run it from that freshly unzipped directory. Does that work?
I'm a Mac OsX user - running 10.5 Downloaded the new Lackey today and it won't even open up - Just constantly "Unexpectedly Quits" (With the error message to relaunch, report or Ignore.) I've deleted Lackey a few times and downloaded again, each to the same end.
Regarding the New 8/18 version, it has STOPPED working . im goin to give step by step of what i do.
1. i downloaded the updated
2. extracted it to its own folder.
3. i copy and pasted my IMAGES folder, it holds all my avatars, and playmat images, this came from a previous version of lackey
4. I then copy and paste my Plugins folder
5 i got the FONTS page pop up, so i moved the new font file.
6 . i start Lackey. i get the opening screen, i then go to my plugins in lackey, the menu drops down, i click on MAGIC, then i get a prompt saying that Lackey has stopped working.
7. i have turn my comp off and back on like 7 times LACKEY WILL NOT RESTART.
This has been going on for 2 days, and yes, i have opened lacket out of the rar BUT, it wont let me add my plugins to this rar file. i just want to play Magic, and my other games

Before you tried anything else, did it run from an unzipped folder with no modifications done by you? Was everything complete and intact with the unzipped folder when you tested it?

Unfortunately, lackey requires OS 10.6 or higher now. Sorry.
Trevor, I tried downloading it again (which I had tried before) and it works perfectly. Thanks for the attention and the help! Keep up the great work!
When i unzipped it to its own folder, the fonts folder came over but the fonts werent there, it sent me to that lackey fonts page on this website, so then i moved the files out of the rar, and then the rest, it came on for as long as i was able to get to the plugins , click MAGIC, and now regardless of starting up my comp again, lackey wont run, and i cant move my plugins INTO the rar

You can try deleting your plugin's pluginpreferences.txt file.
the only LINK i clicked was on the opening screen on THIS website that says DOWNLOAD windows 8/18 update, and i deleted the plugin preferences, it didnt help.. DURING the process of MOVING the fonts folder. the FONT ERROR, came from here, black white and red page that says if your fonts are messed up go here. so my question is am i going to have to do another re install., since when i go to the 8/18 rar, and i DO NOT unzip it, it wont let me move my plugins or image prefs, so zipped or unzipped this thing is NOT working..

I'm going to take another look at my code and make sure there isn't anything in there requiring a specific font that is no longer present. In the interim, I have included the previous default font, times.tff, in the download that is now in the download sections. I would guess this will fix things. Please try testing if it runs immediately after you unzip it, before you try to move anything to or from the old or new lackey folders.
I just tested it Inside the rar, it works, i have not unzipped it to its own folder yet, im going to do that and try loading my plugins.
Ok moved it to new file folder. moved by drag and drop my files. like my avatars and mat images, THEN i engaged the MAGIC plugin, which it worked, so next i moved my Battletech plugin, and it crashed Lackey, and Lackey will NOT open back up
Just did a Complete shut down and restart. Lackey will NOT start at all..

You last posted today before I posted it. Did you try downloading it since 10:30 PM EST? When you unzip a fresh lackey with no modifications, does it launch and can you see the build date it says at the top?
If that doesn't work, try deleting your secure/ folder in your lackey folder.
Yes i can see the build date, and i have NOT loaded any plugins, only thing in the folder is War3000

I believe notes are still saved in the file, and therefore you can edit the file. I think lackey should preserve your notes if you save or edit it, but you might want to double check that. I think all I removed was the parts that displayed/editted the notes from within Lackey.

i checked and the dek files still contain the notes; said this, i have to review my comment: there is a game, in particular anahcronism, where the cards disposition is essential for making the deck work at best. since i have 20+ decks, everytime i play i have to open the directory whick contains the dek files, open 1 of this for every game and check the row with the order i wrote down when i created the deck; in addition, since i created a couple of new decks with the new last version of lackey i don't have any reminder at all, so i have to ask you, if possibile, to reintroduce deck notes function on lackey, so with only a view i can dispose card more easily and faster, also not to let the opponent wait way too much
thank you in advance

In my experience, this is almost always caused by some driver being out of date, usually OpenGL.

Hi!
I think the last or second to last release broke linux support as all that happens when I try to launch Lackey using wine is a browser is launched to a page telling me that fonts are missing and a blank window appears before it silently quitting. Here is the only relevant output wine debug gives me :

What operating system you have? I think you should update your OpenGL drivers.
Cant connect to the server, was in the middle of a game, had this thing pop on saying server shutdown in 10 seconds, new lackey version or something, so i went out, went thru the updater, updater says your version of lackey is current, try to get on server, it says my lackey is not current, so whats going on..
now when i try to update, the updater says i need to shutdown lackey, yet i dont have lackey on..

Use task manager to quit a process called LackeyCCG.exe. Check your version of LackeyCCG Updater.exe. When it is running, does it say version "0.130920" at the bottom right when it's running?
0.090313 and tryed task manager it keeps saying the same thing..

You have an old version of the updater. Try getting a new version from the downloaded zip and run it from your lackey folder.
so can i just paste the new updater from tonights zip..?

Yes.
Ok i just did that now it says lackey wont run because this version is incompatible with my Windows im running Win 7x 64
when i updated it said updating 1 new file, the blue progress bar was like alittle over halfway, and it stopped..
got it going now..
When downloading the newest update the progress bar was filled by only a third yet it told me it was finished, and now I can't start Lackey, I only get a cmd window that closes instantly and sometimes tells me that the program is too large to fit in memory(but only sometimes). My friends have no such problem.

Re-download it.
I also am having troubles in ubuntu. I have done everything this forum and all others I have found suggest, still nothing works. It opens, says "Welcome to Lackey" and then closes. This is the following report:
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0xffffffff in 32-bit code (0x72a7d075).

This is a quote from undying_dreadlord who is quoting N3XUS:
Can't seem to figure out why lackey won't display properly on my laptop running windows 7. Even after i did those three recommendations, the same problem persists. Every time i open lackey, i hear the "welcome to lackey" then it just freezes and whatever was on the screen just before i opened lackey is stuck being displayed inside the boarders of the lackey window. Very very puzzling and yet on my desktop running xp sp3, lackey works just fine
I have the exact same problem. Help please?
I too have the exact same problem. I see no replies or even acknowledgment of these requests for help. Am I missing something? Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
In my experience, this is almost always caused by some driver being out of date, usually OpenGL.
I also have this problem. Already updated my graphic card drivers but still the experienced this problem.
Maybe because of my graphic card? :(
If you're using a Mac it doesn't open at all.

I posted a newer version that should fix the mac launch issue.
I am still getting the Mac error that lackey cannot open. It is suggesting that my version of of OS X might be too old. I'm running on this comp OSX 10.6.8 is that not good enough anymore?

it will be good enough as soon as I fix an issue. I'll work on it ASAP.
There seems to be a common issue where the newest Lackey almost immediately fails when launched in MacOS. I've installed the very latest version, and my OS is also fully updated. Can you attend to this? I'd be fine with the older version being used, or at least being allowed online. If a fix could be implemented asap, that'd be fantastic. I love using Lackey to host a TCG I recreated. If there's any way I could help, or help test, please let me know! :)
Happening to me too. It quits soon after every time I join the server.
Hey Trevor. Merry Christmachannukwansidon! Unfortunately all I got for you was this bug report. Hopefully you won't find it till after you've had glad tidings with your familial units.
Anyway, here we go. Lackey is crashing immediately after start-up on a fresh install on a new Windows 8.1 system that I believe to be fully up to date. I ran the updater and had no luck so I came here and read through this forum. Fun fact: I have updater .090313. It doesn't look like that's the most recent updater, but as this is straight from your latest download zip I'm not so sure.
Am I missing something here?
Thank you for all the work you've put into this over the years. I've had lots of fun.
Peace.
Is it giving you any errors when you try to launch Lackey? Perhaps check your event viewer as well to see if anything's getting reported there that might help track down the issue. In situations like this, it's most often a missing library file but sometimes it's something that Trevor can fix relatively quickly if he can track down the cause.
Hi just started using lackey here and it works my old XP laptop but not on my new window 8.1 pro tablet?
Says error with exe?
Many thanks

Alright, I opened the event viewer. This is what it gave me.

This hadn't occurred to me until that other person posted about it. I too am trying to run this on a tablet. Does that make a difference?
Thanks!
I started a new post before seeing this....
I an on a win8 tablet and lackey will start, but then as soon as I try to touch anything it will close.
I have updated and set the program to run as an administrator.... No luck...
I just tried LackeyCCG on my windows 8.1 tablet and it does the same thing. I assume this is not fixed, yet?
good to now that
Trying to run lackey on my hp stream 7 gives an error when I touch anything.
i was able to log into the mtg plugin for a few hours yesterday but today i can't it says:
Your connection to the server seems to have been severed
Does anyone have a workaround?

:) Lackey is crashing on my Microsoft Surface Pro 3. I have installed it and unzipped it several ways and into several different directories and its still the same.
Any Help?
Hey there Trevor great job, trying to get my head round it, but it is fun finding out how it all works.
PC win 7, 64 bit, 8gb ram installed and ran fine
Laptop win7, 64 bit, 4 gb ram opens the updater and says that it has updated fine and ready to launch Lackey, laptop asks if it should run this type of file, click yes and nothing else opens up.
I can not see what I am doing differently, I have updated the vcredist_x86 file that you recommended, the onboard updater says that my graphics driver is the newest available, any clues would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
Hi - I'm getting the missing fonts page show up when I try to launch LackeyCCG (on the latest version of OSX). The fonts page directs me to download lackeyCCG again - which just downloads the same version of the files I originally downloaded and launching the newly downloaded application directs me back to the same missing fonts page. I've tried "installing" the fonts through the native font application for mac but I get a warning saying there are serious problems with the font and they may harm the security of my machine.
I'm really not sure what to do. I've read through these responses and tried googling the issue and I'm not having any luck. I see the posts in this thread are a few years old so I really hope that someone sees this and is able to help.

Trevor, you really need to address this issue. I cannot find a solution at all other than to run the executable from inside the MacOS folder. This seems to allow the application to run, but I must do it every time; i.e. the program never works properly.

Hey I noticed a couple years back people were mentioning the issues running LackeyCCG on MacOS, I'm running macOS Sierra (10.12.5) and I can't seem to do anything to get the program open. Is there a definite way to open it on MacOS or another solution on the development end to get the program to open?
